Strategies in Climate Risk Mitigation: Keeping the Power On with Advanced Solar Software
Extreme weather-related losses are threatening the viability of insurer’s books and investment portfolios. While power generation is among the top 10 worst performing insurance business lines, catastrophic risk profiles within this sector are not created equally. On the one hand, conventional power plants intensify climate change and extreme weather events; on the other, solar power and other renewable energy assets deescalate climate risks.
Webinar | “Bifacial PV: How to Embrace the Technology and Reduce Performance Risk”
Bifacial PV solar energy offers more electricity from a module with almost no additional balance of system cost– but only if the plant design, installation, and operation are right. Our webinar will help you achieve this
Daniel Chang of Renewable Energy Test Center and Adam Kankiewicz of Black & Veatch will explore current bifacial PV technology from the module, plant design, and operational perspectives. Reducing uncertainty and risk associated with overall bifacial PV plant performance will be highlighted during this webinar. Register Today.
In the News | PV Tech Article “Expert view on key PV panel reliability and performance testing trends in the new era large-area products“
We recently had the opportunity to talk at length with Cherif Kedir, the President and CEO at the Renewable Energy Test Center (RETC), based in Fremont, California.
The discussion touched on various issues currently impacting module design, certification, performance and reliability that are obviously critical to investors seeking to reduce risk in PV power plant investments and maximize long-term site returns.
However, we wanted to start the interview with an update on a topic that Cherif discussed at depth at the PV ModuleTech 2019 event in Penang last October– bifacial modules.
RETC Partners with Nextracker
FREMONT, Calif., February 4, 2020 — RETC is proud to have supported NEXTracker in the evaluation of their next generation control system for utility-scale PV applications. During an anticipated hailstorm, the NX Navigator control system can be controlled to rotate to a more off-angle (60 degrees) resting position from expected hail, resulting in less potential damage to the PV modules at the site.
Renewable Energy Test Center Highlights High Achievers Across 46 Solar Manufacturers in 2019 PV Module Index
FREMONT, Calif., June 3, 2019 — Continuing to support solar panel manufacturers in the development of high-quality products, and solar project developers, financiers, and end-users who seek high-quality panels, Renewable Energy Test Center (RETC) has released its first annual PV Module Index. The report is the first comprehensive assessment of top-performing modules that are tested for reliability, performance, and qualityacross 18 different indicators. Within the data, two manufacturers are recognized for demonstrating high achievement across indicators in all three categories.
RETC Partners with Water Mission to Provide Access to Clean Safe Water
FREMONT, Calif., April 13, 2018 — Water Mission, a Christian engineering nonprofit, has provided over 3 million people access to safe water since 2001. Based in Charleston, SC, Water Mission empowers communities in 53 countries around the world to break the cycle of poverty fueled by unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation.
Over the past three years, Water Mission and its partners have implemented numerous projects which were made possible by the generous donations of the Renewable Energy Test Center (RETC). Having donated approximately 240,000 watts of solar energy to date, RETC has enabled Water Mission to pump life-giving water to nearly half a million people.
