FAQs

  • The PVMI Report is published annually, usually midway through the calendar year. Its release generally coincides with the start of the SNEC PV POWER EXPO.

  • Any products and manufacturers tested at RETC are nominally eligible for inclusion in the PV Module Index Report.

To be eligible for “Overall Highest Achiever” recognition, a manufacturer’s modules must have been submitted to RTETC for Thresher Testing. The Thresher Test is a beyond-qualification bankability test protocol that evaluates products according to three interrelated disciplines (reliability, performance, and quality).

Manufactures of products submitted for less comprehensive testing—such as Hail Durability Testing or CEC certification only—qualify for recognition within specific related disciplines (such as, High Achievement in…” reliability or performance) but do not qualify for “Overall Highest Achiever” recognition.

  • The PV Module Index Report summarizes the results of bankability and beyond-certification tests conducted at RETC’s accredited laboratories over 12 months, spanning Q2Y1 through Q1Y2.

    (e.g. Q2 2021 through Q1 2022)

  • “Overall Highest Achiever” designation is reserved for those manufacturers recognized for high achievement in all three PV Module Index Report disciplines: reliability, performance, and quality. This award recognizes the best of the best.

    “High Achievement in…”
designation recognizes individual instances of high achievement within the three manufacturing disciplines. These awards are qualified accordingly:
    - High Achievement in Quality
    - High Achievement in Performance
    - High Achievement in Reliability
